Domaine Daniel Bouland Morgon Délys 2021

Domaine Daniel Bouland Morgon Délys comes from the younger of the grower’s two parcels in the lieu-dit directly behind his house, raised in concrete.

Les Délys is part of the Corcelette climat in the hilly north-west of Morgon, downslope from Bellevue and immediately behind Daniel Bouland’s home and winery. He splits his holding here into two cuvées: an old-vine bottling raised in foudre, and this younger-vine version raised in concrete, which keeps the fruit bright and unmarked. The vines were planted in 1978 and 1980 in the deep granitic sand typical of Les Délys, a soil that brings roundness and an almost Burgundian texture to the wine. Fermentation follows Bouland’s usual pattern of low yields and natural, whole-bunch vinification. The wine is refined and immediately drinkable, with succulent wild berry fruit and a nettle-like spice, closing on a vibrant, racy note with just a hint of tannin.

Drinking well now and holding for five or six years. Serve at 16-18°C with charcuterie, roast pork or grilled sausages.
