Domaine Goisot Bourgogne Côtes d'Auxerre Corps de Garde Blanc 2020

Domaine Goisot Bourgogne Côtes d'Auxerre Corps de Garde Blanc is a barrel-raised Chardonnay assembled from a spread of lieux-dits around Saint-Bris.

The Côtes d'Auxerre lies in the Yonne, in the northern reaches of Burgundy where Portlandian and Kimmeridgian limestones meet and the growing season runs cool. This white is cropped from the lieux-dits of Belle Croix, Biaumont, Gondonne, Chaussan and Gueules de Loup, together with a selection of parcels too small to vinify on their own. Vine age across the sites averages 35 to 40 years and the soils mix both limestone types. The estate is farmed biodynamically. The wine is raised in barrel, including some 500-litre demi-muid, with a portion new, which gives breadth without covering the fruit. The name refers to the family's fourteenth-century guardhouse and cellar, probably used as a hideout when the village came under attack in the medieval period.

Ready to drink and will hold for five years or more. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, grilled snapper or a soft-rind goat's cheese.
