Domaine Goisot Bourgogne Côtes d'Auxerre Gondonne Blanc 2019

Domaine Goisot La Gondonne is the most structured of the domaine's single-vineyard Chardonnays from the Côtes d'Auxerre.

Goisot farms biodynamically in the hills west of Chablis, around Saint-Bris-le-Vineux, where the geology is much the same Kimmeridgian sequence as the more famous appellation next door. La Gondonne lies on the denser end of it, blue clay, marl and limestone strewn with exogyra virgula, the small comma-shaped fossil shells that give their name to another wine in the range. The vines are a massale selection from cuttings taken in the Les Clos parcels of the Raveneau and Dauvissat families, who have close ties to the Goisots. The family planted them here because they consider this the site in the Côtes d'Auxerre that comes nearest to that Chablis grand cru. It reliably makes the most layered and the firmest of the three single-vineyard releases.

Drinking from two years and worth eight to ten. Serve at 10-12°C with roast pork, scallops or a mushroom risotto.
