Domaine Jaeger Defaix Rully 1er Cru Les Cloux Blanc 1.5L MAGNUM 2022

Les Cloux is Domaine Jaeger-Defaix's Rully Premier Cru white, from organically farmed vines planted in 1944, presented here in magnum.

The vineyard lies just south of the village of Rully in the Côte Chalonnaise, with a south-easterly aspect on the better central band of the Premier Cru slope, looking out over the plain of the Saône. Les Cloux holds the domaine's oldest vines, rooted in the clay and limestone mix common to the best sites in Burgundy, and they have been managed organically since 2009. The site has a reputation within Rully for balancing mouthwatering flesh with tangy grip and fine length. This is entirely Chardonnay, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for 12 months in older barrels of up to seven years before settling in stainless steel, then bottled under Diam. The style is silky and textural, long and focused, closing with a salty, savoury note.

Drinking well now and set to develop over five or more years in magnum; serve at 10 to 12°C with roast fish, chicken in cream sauce or gruyère.
