Description
Description
Domaine Laurent-Savoye Beaujolais Villages Prestige Ancient Vines is a characterful expression of old-vine Gamay from the rolling hills of Beaujolais.
Produced by the family-run Domaine Laurent-Savoye, this Prestige cuvée is sourced from ancient vineyards, where mature vines naturally produce lower yields and greater depth. The focus here is on vine age, site expression and balance, rather than overt winemaking influence.
Beaujolais Villages sits just below the cru appellations and is widely recognised for offering some of the region’s best value and consistency. This bottling reflects a more serious, structured take on the appellation, shaped by traditional practices and a respect for the land.
A thoughtful, lighter-bodied red that highlights the elegance and quiet complexity Gamay can achieve when grown on old vines.

Jambon à la Beaujolaise (Ham Braised in Beaujolais Wine)
Ingredients:
- 1kg unsmoked ham or pork shoulder, cut into large chunks
- 2 tbsp butter or olive oil
- 1 onion, finely sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, lightly crushed
- 500ml Beaujolais red wine
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
- Cracked black pepper
Instructions:
- Heat the butter or oil in a heavy pot and gently brown the pork on all sides, then set aside.
- Sauté the onion and garlic in the same pot until soft and lightly golden.
- Return the pork to the pot and add the Beaujolais wine, bay leaf and thyme.
- Bring to a gentle simmer, cover and cook slowly for 1½–2 hours until the meat is tender and the sauce has reduced.
- Season with cracked black pepper and serve with boiled potatoes or lentils.
The gentle braising brings out Gamay’s savoury side, while the wine’s bright acidity and silky tannins lift the pork’s richness, making this a classic and deeply regional Beaujolais pairing.
