Domaine Naturaliste Rachis Syrah 2023

Domaine Naturaliste Rachis Syrah is a peppery, savoury Margaret River Shiraz in a medium-bodied, cooler-climate style.

The name is the Latin term for the stem of a grape bunch, a nod to how this Syrah is made. It sits one step above the entry-level Syrah, and French oak stays in a supporting role behind the fruit. Bruce Dukes, who trained in California, makes it in a region of gravelly, ironstone-rich soils.

Spicy and supple, with fine tannins. Try it at 15–17°C with grilled lamb cutlets, venison or a mushroom and lentil ragù, now or over the next five years or so.
