Description

Domaine Pierre Labet Bourgogne Blanc Vieilles Vignes is made from small parcels of fifty-year-old Chardonnay in Beaune and Chorey-lès-Beaune.

Domaine Pierre Labet is the Beaune estate of François Labet, who also runs Château de la Tour in Clos de Vougeot, and it is farmed and vinified with the same attention as the grander wines. Regional Bourgogne Blanc from this part of the Côte de Beaune comes off the lower, flatter ground below the classified slopes, so the difference between an ordinary bottle and a good one lies in vine age, yields and handling. The vines here are more than fifty years old, which gives the wine its depth of flavour and its savoury cast, and only 10 per cent of the oak used in ageing is new, so the wood supports the texture rather than flavouring it. Citrus freshness and a buttered, toasty edge sit together comfortably.

Drinking well now and good for three to five years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, roast chicken or a soft cheese.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
