Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas 'Aux Lieux Dits' 2021

Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas 'Aux Lieux-Dits' is a Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre blend from several named sites beneath the Dentelles de Montmirail.

Up against those jagged peaks, scree and clay at altitude give the appellation more freshness and grip than the flat country further out. This cuvée pulls together a number of named parcels. The Gras family have owned the domaine for generations, and Yves Gras made it one of the leading names here. Biodynamic farming, hand picking, wild yeasts with some whole bunches, and ageing in big old wood and concrete, never new barrels.

Dark berries, garrigue and pepper, warm but with a stony freshness. Decant an hour ahead and serve at 16–18°C with lamb, daube, grilled meats or hard sheep's milk cheese.
