Winery

Domaine Tempier is a historic estate located in the Bandol appellation of Provence, founded in 1830 and brought to prominence by Léonie Tempier in 1885. Despite the devastation of phylloxera in the early 20th century, the domaine was reborn with a replanting of noble grape varieties, particularly Mourvèdre. In 1941, Bandol gained AOC status, requiring red wines to be at least 50% Mourvèdre and aged for 18 months in barrel—a standard that Domaine Tempier helped establish. Today, the estate is a leader in sustainable viticulture and remains a reference point for expressive, structured Bandol wines.

Food Pairings

Beef: Braised oxtail or grilled T-bone with rosemary salt.
Lamb: Slow-cooked lamb shoulder with olives or Provençal lamb stew.
Game: Wild boar ragout or duck with fig reduction.
Vegetarian: Stuffed capsicum with lentils and mushrooms or eggplant lasagna.

Cheese Pairings

Roquefort: Bold and tangy, matching the wine's strength.
Tomme de Montagne: Earthy and firm, complementing the wine's depth.
Beaufort: Nutty and aged, enhancing the savoury elements.
Pecorino: Sharp and salty, providing contrast to the wine's richness.
