Domaine Vincent Dancer Bourgogne Blanc 2023

Dancer's Bourgogne Blanc is sourced from two parcels inside the Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet communes.

Regional Bourgogne Blanc is usually assembled from wherever a grower has spare fruit, so the sources matter. This one is drawn from two parcels within famous communes: Les Magny in Meursault, planted in 2001, and Femelottes in Puligny-Montrachet, planted in 1990. Both sit on the clay and limestone soils typical of the Côte de Beaune. Vincent Dancer, joined at the estate by his son Théo, keeps yields low across the range and handles the whites simply, with whole-bunch pressing and natural fermentation. This cuvée is vinified in a mix of tank and old oak, so there is no new-wood character to get in the way, and it is bottled after a straightforward élevage. It is the sort of Bourgogne that shows what village-quality sites and careful farming can deliver at the base of a range.

Drink over the next four or five years. Serve at 10-12°C with oysters, grilled whiting or a simple roast chicken.
