Description
Description
This white comes from the Dancer family's young agroforestry planting at Nantoux, 400 metres up in the Hautes Côtes above Pommard.
Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune covers the higher, cooler ground behind the main Côte, where later ripening gives fresher, more linear wines. The Dancer family's parcel is at Nantoux, a village at around 400 metres above Pommard known for its pink limestone quarries and the walking tracks that run between its vineyards, woods and meadows. They have planted two hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on a limestone plateau and interspersed the rows with a range of local trees, an agroforestry approach that is unusual in Burgundy. The planting material is mass selection developed with the nurseryman Lilian Bérillon. The investment was partly a response to the very low yields the domaine has faced in recent harvests. The vines are young, and the wines from the site are worth following as they mature.
Ready on release and best over the next four or five years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, chicken salad or fresh goat's cheese.
