Domaine Vincent Girardin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Morgeots' 375ml 2023

Domaine Vincent Girardin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Morgeots' is a full-bodied white Burgundy from the largest and best-known premier cru of its village.

At the southern end of Chassagne-Montrachet, a broad slope runs towards Santenay on limestone with more clay and marl than the vineyards higher up. That soil makes a deeper, wider Chardonnay, with real weight mid-palate and an unhurried finish. From its Meursault cellar the domaine farms organically and biodynamically, presses whole bunches and ferments and ages in barrel on full lees, with just enough new oak to support.

Broad and mouthfilling, with stone fruit, hazelnut and a firm mineral spine, and the half-bottle suits a table for two. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, scallops, veal or a soft washed-rind cheese.
