Domaine Vincent Girardin Volnay Vieilles Vignes 375ml 2022

Domaine Vincent Girardin Volnay Vieilles Vignes is a medium-bodied red Burgundy from old-vine Pinot Noir in the Côte de Beaune.

Of all the red villages in the Côte de Beaune, Volnay is the most delicate, a narrow limestone slope where Pinot gives perfume and fine tannin. Older vines across the appellation crop lightly here, lending more depth than a standard village wine. From its Meursault base the domaine farms organically and biodynamically, and keeps the cellar work transparent: hand-picked, mostly destemmed, gently extracted, little new oak.

Light-footed without being slight, with red berries, a savoury edge and fine tannin. The half-bottle makes an easy midweek pour. Serve at 15-16°C with roast chicken, charcuterie or mushrooms.
