Description
Description
Famille Hugel Gentil is a classic Alsatian field-style blend from one of the region’s most respected family producers, Famille Hugel, based in Riquewihr since 1639.
Gentil is a traditional Alsace designation, where multiple regional grape varieties are grown, harvested and vinified together to express balance and place rather than a single varietal character.
The blend brings together 30% Gewürztraminer, 23.5% Pinot Gris, 18.7% Riesling, 18% Sylvaner, 6% Pinot Blanc and 3.8% Muscat, resulting in a dry, finely structured white designed to be versatile and food-friendly, with freshness and gentle aromatics.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.

Recipe
Recipe
Flammekueche (Alsatian Onion, Bacon & Crème Tart)
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet pizza dough or flatbread dough
- 200g crème fraîche or sour cream
- 1 large onion, very thinly sliced
- 120g bacon lardons or pancetta, finely diced
- Salt and cracked white pepper
- Optional: pinch of nutmeg
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 250°C (or as hot as your oven will go) and place a baking tray inside to heat.
- Roll the dough very thinly into an oval or rectangle.
- Mix the crème fraîche with a pinch of salt, pepper and nutmeg if using.
- Spread the cream mixture thinly over the dough, leaving a small border.
- Scatter over the sliced onion and bacon evenly.
- Transfer to the hot tray and bake for 8–10 minutes until crisp, blistered and lightly golden.
- Slice and serve immediately.
The creamy base, sweet onion and savoury bacon are lifted by Gentil’s freshness and gentle aromatics, while the wine’s dry structure keeps the dish light, balanced and dangerously drinkable.
