Description

Guigal Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge is a dependable, generous Rhône red from the famous Ampuis house, in a convenient 375ml bottle.

Established by Étienne Guigal in 1946 and now led by his grandson Philippe, the business made its name in Côte-Rôtie, but this Côtes-du-Rhône is the wine most people know. It brings together Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre from vineyards throughout the Rhône Valley, with Syrah taking a larger share than is typical for the appellation. In 2022 it is a deep, brilliant red, with fresh red and black berries, a full, rich palate, rounded smooth tannins and a soft, elegant finish. The half bottle suits a smaller table or a quiet night in.

Open it at around 16 to 18 degrees. Lamb cutlets, roast chicken with herbs, eggplant parmigiana or a cheese board all make easy partners.
