Description

Hans Herzog Sauvignon Blanc Sur Lie is an organic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc aged on its lees for extra texture.

After fermentation the wine stays on the spent yeast, which adds palate weight and a savoury edge. The vineyard, on the stony northern side of the Wairau Valley, is organic and sun-trapping, and yields are kept low. Hans and Therese Herzog have grown grapes there since the 1990s, after generations of family winemaking back in Switzerland.

Dry and textural, with citrus, gooseberry and a creamy finish. Serve at 8–10°C with seafood, goat's cheese, chicken or herb-crusted fish.
