Jim Barry Barry Bros Shiraz 2023

Jim Barry Barry Bros Shiraz is a fragrant, medium-bodied Shiraz from the Clare Valley, made for easy enjoyment.

Founded by Jim Barry in 1959, the family winery is now run by his son Peter with the third generation, including brothers Tom and Sam, whose partnership gives this label its name. The Clare Valley sits in the Mount Lofty Ranges north of Adelaide, and its warm days and cool nights give Shiraz both ripe fruit and freshness. The cool 2023 season suited an aromatic style, and this wine shows violets, cracked pepper and savoury notes around a core of cassis, with crunchy acidity and fine, cocoa-like tannins giving shape to a long, balanced finish.

Pour it slightly cool, at around 15 to 17 degrees, with grilled lamb and herbs, mushroom risotto, or charcuterie and cheese. It's drinking well now.
