Jim Barry Lodge Hill Riesling 2025

Jim Barry Lodge Hill Riesling is a crisp, dry Clare Valley Riesling from one of the region's highest vineyards.

The Lodge Hill property was bought by Jim Barry in 1977, when he was confident its elevation of around 480 metres in the eastern ranges of the Clare Valley would produce some of the region's best Riesling. The land was once part of a pastoral run dating back to 1839. Up here, intense sunshine and cool nights slow ripening, so the grapes keep their natural acidity and bright citrus character, and the vines give a small crop. In the winery the fruit is pressed gently and moved quickly into fermentation to protect those fresh flavours, giving a lime-driven wine with focused acidity and a long finish.

Serve well chilled with freshly shucked oysters, Vietnamese rice paper rolls or grilled fish with herbs. It's delicious young, and like the best Clare Rieslings it will also develop toasty complexity with a few years in the cellar.
