Description

Jim Barry The McRae Wood Shiraz McGrath Foundation Gift Box is a special gift-boxed release of the Barry family's Clare Valley Shiraz linked to the McGrath Foundation.

The McGrath Foundation, started by Glenn and Jane McGrath, funds breast care nurses around Australia. This edition pairs that cause with McRae Wood, drawn from the Barry family's vineyard of the same name. The 2021 has lifted violets, red currant and ripe black plum, with well-integrated spice and a touch of good oak in the background. The fruit is dense and commanding, flowing easily over layered fine tannin, with great intensity and length.

Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees, ideally after a short decant. It goes well with beef bourguignon, lamb rump or a wild mushroom pie, and it will keep improving in the cellar for years.
