Lambert Crudo Rosé 2023

Lambert Crudo Rosé is a dry Yarra Valley rosé of Shiraz with a small measure of Nebbiolo.

Sixteen years of root growth in the rocky ground near the top of Denton's cone, on a northwest aspect, sets the tone: low yields, firm acid and very little colour. The blend carries a twentieth Nebbiolo off the same site, which lifts the aromatics without changing the shape. Bunches went whole to the press, indigenous yeasts worked in stainless steel, malolactic finished, and bottling followed unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur. The cool, low-cropping 2023 season is the reason this is the most perfumed and refined version Luke Lambert has made.

More vinous than most rosé, with red fruit, crushed flowers and a mineral edge under a savoury, elegant palate. It wants a table and an afternoon. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees, with a whole grilled fish, jamón, chicken salad, or olives and almonds.
