Laughing Jack Jack's GSM 2022

Laughing Jack Jack's GSM is an organically farmed Barossa blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre.

Close to thirty vintages in and Shawn Kalleske still spends most of his year outdoors, which is the simplest explanation for how consistent this wine is. The 2022 runs 66 per cent Grenache, 24 Shiraz and 10 dry-grown Moppa Mourvèdre, from two immaculately grown estate sites: Moppa Hill, planted in 1962 on ancient sand with old roots in the reddish-orange clay below, and Greenock on deep red soil. Both are own-rooted, low-yielding and managed on organic principles. Fruit is picked by hand, destemmed and fermented as whole berries in small open-top vessels, then given eighteen months in seasoned French puncheons.

Bright and pure-fruited, with heady spice and a texture that coats without weighing anything down. Dry, long, easy to keep drinking. Serve at 16 degrees. Good with a roast chicken, lamb skewers, ratatouille, or prosciutto and figs.
