Lethbridge Ooh La La Chardonnay 2024

Lethbridge Ooh La La Chardonnay is a Chardonnay built from high-country and Geelong fruit.

Two favoured sites supply the 2024. Barrie Provan's Barwite vineyard, established in 1998 about fifteen minutes from Mansfield in Victoria's high country, sits on undulating, mostly northeast-facing slopes; the rest comes from a friend's vineyard on Moorabool Ridge, a stone's throw from the Lethbridge home block. Fruit was pressed as bunches, fermented in new French oak, then matured on lees in seasoned foudres of 500 and 1,300 litres, with full malolactic conversion. Ray Nadeson and Maree Collis have a way with names as well as wine, and this one delivers on the promise of its label.

Citrus, apple and florals with warm spice and a fresh-cut pineapple acidity cutting through generous weight. It packs a punch. Serve at 12 degrees. Good with roast chicken, prawn linguine, pork schnitzel or a wedge of Gruyere.
