Description
Nicole Lamarche Côtes de Nuits Villages Rouge comes from rocky limestone slopes south of Premeaux, at the far southern end of the Côte.
Côtes de Nuits-Villages covers the villages at either end of the Côte de Nuits, outside the more famous communes, and the southern section around Premeaux, Comblanchien and Corgoloin sits on hard, rocky limestone that gives firm, mineral Pinot Noir. This is the third release of the cuvée under Nicole Lamarche's négociant label. She is keeping the exact source to herself, but the vineyard lies on those limestone slopes south of Premeaux. The appellation suits her: her style is delicate and perfumed, and this is exactly the sort of ground that rewards a light hand rather than heavy extraction. The wine is pure and juicy, with silky red fruit and clear spice, framed by very fine tannins, and it drinks well early without being slight.
Drinking well now and over the next six years. Serve at 16-18°C with roast pork, duck or a mushroom and thyme tart.
