Pyramid Valley Marlborough Weaver Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Pyramid Valley Marlborough Weaver Sauvignon Blanc is a single-vineyard Sauvignon from organic, biodynamically farmed fruit.

Churton belongs to Sam and Mandy Weaver, and its hillside sits 200 metres up between the Omaka and Waihopai Valleys, well south of the Wairau flats where most Marlborough Sauvignon grows. Pyramid Valley picked out a northeast-facing parcel where loess lies over clay subsoil, harvested by hand on 30 March. Whole bunches went straight into the press and the juice into a wooden egg, where it fermented on indigenous yeasts and stayed twelve months on lees before bottling without fining or filtration. Huw Kinch chose the site to show how high Marlborough Sauvignon can reach.

Intense ripe fruit sculpted by mouth-watering energy and a chalky pull through the finish, which is not the wine Marlborough has trained you to expect. Serve at 11 degrees. Good with grilled fish, roast pork, or asparagùs and hollandaise. It will hold five to ten years.
