Quealy Feri Maris Pinot Grigio 2024

Quealy Feri Maris Pinot Grigio is a single-block Grigio from old, dry-farmed vines at Balnarring.

Picking fell on 23 February in 2024, three weeks earlier than the year before, which tells you how quickly that season ran. Whole bunches were pressed and settled overnight, then transferred with plenty of solids to stainless steel and hogsheads, the barrels a third of the blend and half of them new, and the wine stayed on lees without stirring until bottling at the end of August. The single block sits in the home vineyard at Balnarring, planted in 1982, certified organic and dry-farmed. More than a decade of that work is showing in the fruit, and partial barrel ferment is the tool used to frame it.

Deep, rich and full, balanced by electric acidity, with bright orange, white florals and a warm spice note through the finish. Ten to eleven degrees, in a decent glass. Serve with roast chicken, pork belly, or a bowl of mussels in cider.
