Description
Quealy Lina Lool is a skin-fermented field blend of aromatic white varieties from Balnarring.
Moscato Giallo climbs to nearly a third of the 2020 blend, behind Friulano at 40 per cent, with Riesling and Malvasia Istriana filling the rest, all from the home block at Balnarring. Grapes were fed into open-top amphorae as they were harvested, fermenting on skins for six months before basket pressing, a rough settling and twelve months in old French puncheons. In a season defined by low yields, the Peninsula's less fashionable varieties fared better than its Pinot and Chardonnay, and a long cool ripening let the late-finishing grapes build flavour at their own pace.
Ripe citrus and white florals on the nose, savoury flavours working against bright fruit, with grippy structure, balanced acidity and a saline finish. Thirteen to fourteen degrees. Try it with roast chicken, grilled octopus, charcuterie, or a plate of manchego and quince.
