Quealy Tussie Mussie Pinot Noir 2022

Quealy Tussie Mussie Pinot Noir is an organically grown Pinot Noir from a north-facing block at Merricks North.

Two small open-top fermenters were used in 2022, one loaded mostly with whole clusters and the other fully destemmed, since clone 777 takes to bunches particularly well. After sixteen days on skins the wine was pressed gently to old barriques and stayed there fourteen months on full lees. The intense, low-yielding conditions of the season gave a clear look at what this block can do, and it is a site still moving towards its peak. The vines are pruned to a single arched cane to open the canopy, and they are farmed organically with certification to come.

Filigree is the word for it: pure red fruit, rose petal and fine spice over light, silky tannin. Serve at 14 degrees. It suits duck ragu, grilled quail, or a simple plate of charcuterie and cornichons.
