Description
Ravensworth Regional Riesling is a dry, concrete-raised Riesling blended from three vineyards.
Alongside the Sangiovese and the Shiraz Viognier, this is one of Bryan Martin's signature wines. The 2024 drew on three sites: Long Rail Gully at Murrumbateman, Johansen in Tumbarumba and Moppity Park in Hilltops, a spread that covers a good range of altitude and geology. The grapes were cold-soaked for a day before pressing to four 1500-litre concrete tulips, where they fermented and then spent eight months with plenty of solids for company. After blending, the wine went back into the tulips briefly before bottling. Concrete gives a little breathing room without any oak character, and the result is a Riesling built on texture as much as acid.
Lime blossom, green apple and a stony, slightly saline close, dry through the palate with a subtle concrete-derived texture rounding out the edges. Serve it at 10 degrees. Try it with oysters, a green papaya salad, or grilled whiting with lemon and capers.
