Description

Saint Clair Origin Pinot Gris is a fresh, full-flavoured Marlborough white made in a gently off-dry style.

Pinot Gris is a grey-skinned relative of Pinot Noir, and in Marlborough it leans toward a richer, textured style closer to Alsace than to northern Italy. Saint Clair, in the hands of the Ibbotson family since its first vintage in the mid-1990s, makes this Origin wine to show that softer, rounded side of the grape. The 2024 has aromas of vanilla, cinnamon and warm pastry with fresh pear, and a palate of spiced poached pear and vanilla custard lifted by mineral notes. It is best enjoyed within about three years of vintage.

Pour it chilled alongside pork belly with apple, a creamy seafood chowder, Vietnamese rice paper rolls or a plate of soft cheeses.
