Santamania Premium Vodka

Santamania Premium Vodka is a grape-based vodka distilled in Madrid from local Tempranillo.

Most commercial vodka starts with grain or potato; here the base is a neutral spirit the distillery makes itself from Tempranillo. Trials showed that the secondary alcohols carried over from grape spirit gave a more textured, more delicately flavoured result once the liquid had been through the six copper plates of the still they call Vera. The water is chosen with the same care, drawn from Mount Teide on Tenerife, where Atlantic moisture filters slowly through thousands of feet of porous volcanic rock and arrives very pure and low in minerals. Batches run to 330 bottles, take up to five hours, and need no filtration.

Soft, faintly fruity and properly textural, with a clean, warm finish and no burn. Keep it cold but not frozen and drink it neat in a small glass. It makes an excellent Martini with a twist of lemon, and a very good vodka and soda.
