Sister's Run Calvary Hill Shiraz 2023

Sister's Run Calvary Hill Shiraz is a deep, savoury Barossa Shiraz with classic dark chocolate richness.

Shiraz is the heartland grape of the Barossa, and Calvary Hill is Sister's Run's take on the region's classic style. The winemakers describe it as having diving-bell depth, with the salted dark chocolate that marks so much Barossa Shiraz, plus cinnamon and nutmeg spice, all wrapped in a cloak of savouriness. Fruit weight is balanced by keen acidity, giving the wine structure and a clear line, and oak sits so quietly in the background that the fruit speaks for itself. It's a rich wine, but an organised and balanced one, true to Barossa purity.

Open it at 16 to 18 degrees alongside hard local cheeses, slow-cooked beef cheeks or a smoky barbecue. It will drink well now and hold for several years.
