Spinifex Lola 2024

Spinifex Lola is a Barossa white blend of Semillon, Grenache Gris and Clairette.

Semillon commands the 2024 at 74 per cent, off 90-year-old low-yielding vines at Ebenezer, with Grenache Gris at 16 from the estate's Dominion vineyard and Clairette at 10 from high ground at Rowland Flat. Old-vine Semillon supplies the weight, Grenache Gris the citrus and spice, and the late-ripening Clairette a pop of freshness. Each parcel was picked by hand and spent two to four hours on skins, then was destemmed and pressed, the Clairette and Semillon to stainless steel and the Grenache Gris to mature French oak. Six months on lees followed, with part of the Semillon through malolactic conversion.

Savoury and primary at once, with citrus, spice and herb characters over fleshy medium weight and a waxy texture. Serve at 11 to 12 degrees. Like all the whites from this address, it comes alive with food: roast chicken, pork, or grilled sardines.
