Spinifex Rosé 2023

Spinifex Rosé is a dry Barossa Valley rosé of Grenache, Mataro and Cinsault.

Three dry-grown sites feed the 2023, at Angaston, at Ebenezer and at the southern tip of the Bethany foothills, and the soils shift from gravelly sand to red clay across them. Vine age spans 25 to 90 years, with the Cinsault the oldest component, and most of the vines are bush-trained. The blend lands at Grenache 37 per cent, Mataro 36 and Cinsault 27. Each batch had four to six hours on skins before pressing to tank for fermentation, with a small portion going into seasoned oak to build texture. Six months on lees in tank followed before bottling.

Summer berries, spring blossom, ripe citrus and a savoury undertone of earth and spice. Full-flavoured and vinous, with width across the palate. Serve at 9 degrees. Good with paella, barbecued chicken or a bowl of lamb kofta.
