Thomas Wines Synergy Semillon 2023

Thomas Wines Synergy Semillon is an unoaked Hunter Valley Semillon blended from four old-vine sites.

Four vineyards feed into the 2023: Braemore for about seventy per cent, then Brycefield over at Lovedale, Fordwich Hill and Oakey Creek. Each of those sites also produces a single-vineyard Semillon in the Thomas range, and the parcels that do not quite make those cuts come here instead, which is an unusually good starting point for a wine at this price. Stainless steel only, bottled young, no oak and no malolactic conversion. A cool 2023 in the Hunter gave whites with real drive, and Andrew Thomas has had three decades of practice reading seasons like it.

Pure and precise, lemon and lime with live-wire acidity and a racy, dry finish. Chill to 9 degrees. Match it with Sydney rock oysters, prawn cutlets or a plate of sashimi, and know that it will reward a decade in the dark.
