Voyager Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 375ml 2014

Voyager Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 375ml is a Margaret River Cabernet from the estate's benchmark blocks, in a half bottle.

Half bottles age faster than full ones, which makes this a useful way to drink a 2014 Cabernet now. The fruit came off two estate blocks, Old Block in the ground since 1978 and Block 12 in the north vineyard from 1995, with small additions of Merlot for flesh and Petit Verdot for violet lift. Parcels were fermented separately in open and upright vessels below 25 degrees, some held on skins for up to three weeks, then matured twenty months in tight-grained French oak, half of it new, and racked every three months before bottling early in 2016.

Mature Cabernet character: blackcurrant turning to leather and cedar, dried herb, tannins settled and long. Serve at 17 degrees, since it needs less air than a full bottle would. Enough for two good glasses alongside lamb, steak or a cheese plate.
