Voyager Estate Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2020

Voyager Estate Sauvignon Blanc Semillon is Margaret River's classic white blend, made dry and crisp.

Gravelly loam is the common thread across the blocks behind this wine. Sauvignon makes up 61 per cent and brings the crunchy, tropical drive, while the other 39 per cent is Semillon from North Block 10, planted in 1995, supplying pithy lemon, palate weight and structure. The vines are hand-pruned and shoot-thinned, with yields regulated so the style holds from season to season. The 2020 vintage was a strong one across Margaret River and the whites came in clean and precise. A small barrel-fermented Semillon component and a period on lees add flesh to the middle without blunting the finish.

Passionfruit and cut grass on the nose, lemon pith and a touch of creamy lees on the palate, then a snappy close. Serve it cold, 8-10 degrees. Goat's cheese, oysters, a Thai salad or fish tacos all work.
