Voyager Estate Shiraz 2020

Voyager Estate Shiraz is a Margaret River red from a very good vintage.

The 2020 season in Margaret River gave close to ideal conditions, warm and dry early with a cooling January, and the year shows in the density of this release. Parcels came off four blocks, hand-picked, destemmed but left uncrushed, then fermented as whole berries in open and closed fermenters with twice-daily plunging and pump-overs. Pressing was followed by twelve months in oak, a portion new, before the parcels were blended and bottled. The result is richer than usual for the house style without losing the earthy, peppery thread that runs through all the estate's reds.

Dark plum and blackberry with pepper, clove and a savoury edge, and the tannins have some flesh on them. Serve at 17 degrees. It handles beef ribs, lamb shanks, or a hearty mushroom pie without any trouble.
