West Cape Howe Regional Range Frankland River Shiraz 2023

West Cape Howe Regional Range Frankland River Shiraz is a fragrant, structured Western Australian Shiraz with plum and spice.

Well inland from the south coast, Frankland River has earned a reputation for peppery, well-structured Shiraz with good ageing potential. The Regional Range from this Mount Barker-based winery lets individual Great Southern districts speak, and this wine is sourced from Frankland River. The 2023 is deep and dark in colour, with aromatic spicy fruit, ripe plum, liquorice and star anise, and well-judged oak adds depth. A touch of astringency and fine, lightly drying tannins carry the flavour through a long finish.

Decant for half an hour if drinking now, or tuck it away for a few years. Pour at around 16 to 18 degrees alongside beef brisket, venison sausages or a mushroom ragù.
