Wickhams Road Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2024

Wickhams Road Yarra Valley Chardonnay is a blended Chardonnay from vineyards across the Upper Yarra Valley.

Made to the same standards as the estate Chardonnay, this is the more forward, juicy and immediately drinkable of the two. In 2024 the fruit came from a group of Upper Yarra vineyards, chiefly Macclesfield and Woori Yallock, and each subregion plays a part: Woori Yallock fills out the mid-palate, Macclesfield brings finesse and a fresh, linear drive. Picking happened by hand in the cool of the morning, as always, and the wine spent a short maturation on lees after a natural fermentation. Finding a Chardonnay that competes with it on quality against price is genuinely difficult.

Juicy grapefruit and white peach with a hint of nougat, a soft creamy middle and clean citrus acidity through the close. Serve at 11 degrees. Roast chicken, fish and chips or a chicken caesar all suit it.
