Wickhams Road Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2025

Wickhams Road Yarra Valley Chardonnay is a Chardonnay from a Yarra Junction vineyard planted in 1997.

One vineyard, one hill over from Hoddles Creek. The 2025 came from a Yarra Junction site with vines planted in 1997, a cool pocket of the Upper Yarra where Chardonnay ripens slowly and keeps its acidity without help. Picking was done by hand in the cool of the morning, the ferment ran naturally, and the wine had a short spell on lees before bottling. Franco d'Anna applies the same standards here as he does to the estate wine, which is why this range has a reputation that outstrips its price. The style is simply more forward and juicy.

Nectarine, lemon and a whiff of toasted hazelnut, round in the middle with a crisp finish. Serve at 11 degrees, no colder. Good with roast chicken, grilled prawns, or a plate of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on a Sunday.
