Wirra Wirra Farmer's Heart Grenache 2025

Wirra Wirra Farmer's Heart Grenache is a bright, medium-bodied Grenache that captures the perfume and savoury side of McLaren Vale.

Grenache thrives in McLaren Vale's warm, dry summers, and old vines on sandy and ironstone soils give the variety its fragrance and fine tannin. Wirra Wirra was established in the district in the 1890s, and today its winemakers aim for Grenache with freshness and energy. The 2025 release opens with star anise, red fruits, cured prosciutto and a waxy note, before cranberry, pomegranate and blood orange on the palate. A creamy, summer-pudding richness sits in the middle, while dried Mediterranean herbs and fine, chalky tannins carry it through a long finish.

Try it with a slight chill, around 15 degrees. Good partners include roast quail, lamb souvlaki, eggplant dishes and a plate of charcuterie.
