Description

Alain Jaume Champauvins is a Côtes du Rhône from a single estate near Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Domaine du Grand Veneur's Champauvins vineyard lies close to the Châteauneuf boundary on similar stony ground, which is why the wine carries more weight than the appellation usually suggests. Grenache leads with Syrah and Mourvèdre. The Jaume family has farmed at Orange since 1826 and converted the estate to organic viticulture.

Serve at 17 degrees with roast lamb, daube or a herb-crusted rack. Drink over the next eight years.
