Apsley Gorge Vineyard Chardonnay 2025

Apsley Gorge Vineyard Chardonnay is a small-production Chardonnay from the east coast of Tasmania near Bicheno.

Apsley Gorge Vineyard lies on Tasmania's east coast near Bicheno, a region sheltered from the prevailing westerly weather and one of the warmest and driest parts of the island. The estate was established by Brian Franklin, who makes the wines in a converted former fish-processing building in Bicheno. Production is small and focused on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, made in a Burgundian manner with barrel fermentation and maturation in French oak. The east coast's long, sunny season ripens Chardonnay fully while the maritime influence keeps acidity bright. The wine is sealed under screwcap.

Rich yet precise, it pairs with crayfish, scallops and roast chicken; serve at 10 to 12 degrees.
