Armand Heitz Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Maltroie 1.5L MAGNUM 2018

Armand Heitz Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Maltroie is a white Burgundy from a premier cru on the Santenay side of the village.

Chassagne-Montrachet sits at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune, sharing the Montrachet slope with Puligny and better known now for Chardonnay than for the red wine that first made its name. La Maltroie runs along the lower ground close to the village, on thin clay over hard limestone, ground that gives whites of finer definition than the broader climats further south. Armand Heitz has run his family's vines since 2012 from a base in Chassagne, farming biodynamically and reviving the mixed farming, with animals and cereals among the vines, that Burgundy practised before specialisation. The winemaking is intentionally quiet, with whole bunch pressing, natural ferments and ageing largely in used barrels.

Serve at around 12 degrees with roast poultry, turbot or veal.
