Description
Armand Heitz Meursault Gruyaches is a single vineyard village wine from one of the named lieux-dits of Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune.
Meursault is unusual among Côte d'Or communes for the number of its named village plots, and growers there have long bottled lieux-dits separately rather than blending everything into a single village cuvée. Gruyaches is one of those parcels, worked and vinified on its own so that the site rather than the recipe does the talking. Armand Heitz took over his family's vines in the Côte de Beaune in the 2010s and has since become one of the more closely watched young growers of the region, farming organically and building a mixed, regenerative farm around the vineyards, with livestock, trees and hedgerows worked in among the vines. The Chardonnay is whole bunch pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts and raised in barrel.
Serve at around 12 degrees alongside roast chicken, pork loin or a plate of shellfish, and drink over the next five to eight years.
