Armand Heitz Meursault Les Vireuils 2020

Armand Heitz Meursault Les Vireuils is a single vineyard village Meursault from high on the hillside above the commune's premiers crus.

Les Vireuils lies in the upper reaches of Meursault, on the northern part of the slope, where the soil is thin and stony and the altitude keeps the vineyard noticeably cooler than the plots below. Sites like this have become more sought after as Burgundy has warmed, since they ripen later and hold their freshness. Armand Heitz took over his family's vines in the 2010s and farms organically, with a regenerative approach that brings livestock, trees and hedgerows back into the vineyards. The fruit is whole bunch pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts and raised in barrel with restrained use of new oak.

Serve at around 12 degrees with shellfish, white fish or a simple roast chicken, and give it two or three years if a little more depth is wanted.
