Arnoux-Lachaux Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Procès 2020

Arnoux-Lachaux Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Procès comes from 0.7 hectares of vines over fifty years old in one of the commune's smallest premiers crus.

Les Procès is a tiny premier cru on the southern side of Nuits-Saint-Georges, immediately next to Les Pruliers and just below the Château Gris. The southern half of the commune usually gives firmer, more structured wine than the Vosne end, though this particular site tends towards finesse. Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux owns 0.7 hectares here, a substantial share of a vineyard whose remaining acreage belongs almost entirely to Maison Joseph Drouhin, and the vines are more than fifty years old. Charles Lachaux works the domaine's plots with high trellising, late picking and severely limited yields, ferments with whole bunches and matures the wine in used barrels. The style that results is lifted and delicate for the appellation, with perfume taking precedence over extract.

Approachable earlier than most Nuits, but rewarding over eight to twelve years. Serve at 16-18°C with roast squab, veal or a mushroom and thyme tart.
