Arnoux-Lachaux Vosne-Romanée 2021

Lachaux's village Vosne-Romanée is drawn from three parcels below the village: Aux Communes, Aux Saules and Les Bossières.

Vosne-Romanée is the most celebrated red-wine commune in Burgundy, and even its village land, on the flatter ground below the road, can carry the perfume and spice the place is known for when it is well farmed. Charles Lachaux's three parcels total 0.57 hectares. Since taking over the family domaine he has rebuilt the viticulture around tall, untrimmed canopies, horse ploughing in the older plots, denser planting and very low yields, all aimed at ripeness of flavour without excess sugar. This wine is fermented with one hundred per cent whole bunches and sees no new oak, which keeps it lifted and high-toned. The fruit profile here runs darker than in the domaine's other cuvées, but the floral quality common to the range is present.

Drinking well from three years and good for a decade. Serve at 16-18°C with roast chicken, duck or mushroom dishes.
