Description

Bachelet-Monnot Bourgogne Rouge is a regional red assembled from three sites, all of them carrying vines between 60 and 80 years old.

Bourgogne Rouge sits at the base of the Burgundian pyramid, and its quality rests almost entirely on where the fruit is grown. Domaine Bachelet-Monnot, based at Maranges on the southern edge of the Côte de Beaune, takes a third of this cuvée from a parcel of old-vine Pinot Fin in the Hautes-Côtes, a third from village-level vines in Maranges, and the balance from a Bourgogne parcel on the edge of Puligny-Montrachet. Each brings something different: the Puligny fruit gives perfume, Maranges gives depth, and the Hautes-Côtes gives structure and lift. Vine ages of 60, 70 and 80 years are unusual at this level. Fermentation is spontaneous in concrete tank with 50 per cent whole bunch, and the wine spends a year in wood, 20 per cent of it new, followed by six months in tank before bottling.

Drinking well now and over the next four or five years. Serve at 16-18°C with charcuterie, roast chicken or a mushroom tart.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
