Description

Bachelet-Monnot Maranges 1er Cru Clos de la Boutière comes from a single parcel of 80-year-old massale vines in a clos the domaine half owns.

Maranges is the southernmost appellation of the Côte de Beaune, and Clos de la Boutière sits right on the Santenay border at the end of the Clos Roussots vineyard; the name may derive from an old French term for the end of the field. The soil here holds more clay than elsewhere in the commune, which shows in the extra richness of the wine, and the age of the vines adds ripeness and depth. All the fruit was destemmed this vintage, and the crop was held to around 18 hectolitres per hectare. The result has more texture and weight than the estate's more linear La Fussière, and it remains one of the better-value premier crus in Burgundy.

Worth three to five years and good for a decade. Serve at 16-18°C with roast lamb, beef casserole or a mature comté.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
